I’ve never taught exercise before. Can I still take the training?
Yes! Even if you've never taught an exercise class before, we encourage you to step out of your comfort zone. You'll be surprised how much teaching is part of your everyday life (connecting to people, public speaking) and the rest you'll learn as you go!
I’ve never tried barre. What do I need to know?
You should take at least 10 barre classes before you start your teacher training. That way you get an idea of barre exercises and how teachers teach in class. Barre classes are a low impact strength and toning exercise that will make you work muscles you didn't even know you had. It's not easy, so expect to sweat and work hard.
What if I can't make all the dates for training?
We require you to be present for all days of training in order to receive a certification. Unfortunately we can't reschedule an individual training day just for one person.
What if I don’t pass the test or complete my hours?
Please note that we reserve the right not to issue a certification to any person who we do not feel is prepared to teach safe and effective barre classes. You MUST complete all hours, and pass the final test/practical to receive your certification.
Will I be able to teach at the host studio?
Once you have completed your hours and have passed your written and practical exam, it is suggested that you continue to practice teach, observe classes and self practice a few months before applying to a Barre Studio. Most studios will require you to have a certain number of hours already teaching barre, and will have you audition. Most studios will have you become a sub first, or teach a community class.
Join instructor, Erin Chambers, for a 50 hour in-person Barre Teacher Training at upcycle this Spring through RealGirlMethod!
Far from being only a dancer’s workout, the methodology of Barre mixes an artful blend of ballet, Pilates, yoga, and strength training movements into a signature sequence with purpose. This purpose is innately shared across diverse fitness levels, ages, and body types due to its progressions and choose-your-own approach to range of motion.
Erin Chambers is a former dancer and cheerleader and has practiced yoga, Pilates and barre for over 15 years. Erin stands by the philosophy that working out can be accessible to all bodies, ages and skill levels. She has worked with clients coming back from injury, surgery rehabilitation, joint replacement and those with long term diagnosis like traumatic brain injury (TBI), MS and arthritis. Her goal is to help clients improve their posture, flexibility, strength and balance in a fun, no-judgement environment with fun playlists and proven results.
Erin lives in South Jersey, and when not teaching in the studio can be found hosting fitness events at breweries and spending time with her husband and lab-mix Bruce.
Erin was certified through Barre Above in 2017 and has been teaching Barre since. Her training comes from the foundational principles of the Lotte Burke method, and the Barre Above® certification additionally distills traditional class components through the most cutting-edge of exercise science.
$495 if enrolled prior to 3/31; $595 after.
